(Shinjuku store April reservations) Tokyo Tattoo Studio A-tattoo (2025)
We are pleased to inform you of the availability of the Shinjuku store in April. (As of March 3rd)
It’s March and the warmer days are increasing.
And speaking of March, it’s graduation season. It’s a season of farewells and departures. It’s also a season of new encounters.
Congratulations to all those who have graduated.
So, do you know the Japanese names of the months in the old calendar?
The most common ones are “Mutsuki” for January, “Kisaragi” for February, and “Yayoi” for March, but do you know why March is called “Yayoi”?
It is said that the origin of the word “Yayoi” is a contraction of “Kikusaiyaoizuki”.
The character “ya” means “widespread, more and more,” and it seems to mean the month when vegetation grows more and more.
March is also called “Tougetsu” (Peach month), “Hanatsuzuki” (Flower month), “Yumemizuki” (Dreaming month), and others.
I wrote some other names that I thought would give an idea of what they would be like when I saw the kanji,
but “Touro” seems to mean the time when peach blossoms are in full bloom.
“Hanatsuzuki” and “Yumemizuki” are both names for months related to cherry blossoms.
“Hanatsuzuki” means the month of flowers, and in this case the flowers represent cherry blossoms.
“Yumemizuki” is derived from the fact that cherry blossoms are also called “dreaming grass,” as they are beautiful like dreams but also fade away fleetingly.
